A Look Back at The 150th Championship

The last time The Open was hosted at the Old Course, viewers witnessed a championship for the ages in front of record-breaking crowds. In 2022, The 150th Open Championship saw Cam Smith produce a final-round masterclass, shooting an impressive 64 to claim the Claret Jug. With Cameron Young leading the chasing pack, including Rory McIlroy searching for his next major, Cam Smith put on a classy display to ensure he stepped off the 18th green, champion elect.

All week  the entire town of St Andrews buzzed with excitement. From early morning tee times to late-night celebrations at local pubs, the atmosphere was electric. Fans and players alike soaked in the unique charm of the town, where golf is much more than just a sport. The Open at St Andrews is a true celebration of golf’s rich heritage, where past and present champions walk fairways that have been played for over 600 years.

2027 will mark 100 years since legendary amateur Bobby Jones claimed victory at St Andrews. His dominating six-shot win not only secured the Claret Jug but also marked the successful defense of his title, following his triumph the previous year at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

The world’s best players will once again take on Hell Bunker, the Road Hole, and the winds of St Andrews Bay, all in pursuit of golf’s most coveted trophy.
